Bart Ehrman vs Bart Ehrman

Bart Ehrman wrote an entire book "Misquoting Jesus" arguing that the New Testament that we have today is nowhere close to what the original was. He gave some facts which are true that we don't have the original MS and what we have is the copies of the copies of the copies of the copies and so on and there are about 300000-4000000 variants reading whereas the words in the New testament are only 140000. He concluded that we can't know anything about what the originals had in them. And then he writes this book "Did Jesus Exist" responding to the mythicist that JESUS certainly existed in history as a real person 2000 years ago in Palestine. And to prove his point he quotes verses from the Bible by Luke, Jude and others and mostly Paul.

He even says that as a historian he is certain that Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke and Acts and Paul wrote Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians and other epistles.

And not just that they wrote the Gospels and epistles but their writings as we have it today are most certainly authentic.

1. In Chapter 4 page 116 of this "Did Jesus Exist" Bart says Romans 1:1-3 is an ancient creed and Paul included it in his letter to Romans which means we know this was there in the original MS.

2. In Chapter 3 of "Did Jesus Exist" Bart defends Luke's writing and gives several reasons as to why there's no reason to doubt Luke 1:1-3 to be authentic.

3. Again in Chapter 4 this is what Bart wrote about Paul's writing and I quote "In short, I think that Paul originally wrote 1 Thessalonians 2:14–16. He certainly wrote everything up to verse 16".

These are just three passages from the New Testament and remember that we do not have the originals and these verses that Bart is so confident about are from the copies of copies of the copies of the copies of the copies of the copies of the copies of the copies...

In one book Bart says we don't know what the originals had in them and in another book he says these writings from the later copies are most certainly authentic.
